We had a wonderful gala last night for amyloid research...over $150,000.00 was raised by Howard Weitzman’s group of volunteers, supporters, attendees, donors, and those who gave their time and effort.....the ASG contributed an idea or two and was the conduit for the parceling out of the money raised according to Howard’s wishes. Beneficiaries of the donations will be to amyloid research at Boston University Medical Center, Sloan Kettering, Dr. Comenzo at Tufts, and Dr. Maurer at Colombia......there were lots of pictures taken besides the photographer and several videotaped the event or whatever the techy term for it is these days....I was the one with runny eyes and runny nose....it was emotional.....for me...

Food was great. appetizers were a meal unto themselves, and the entertainment, was amazing....including our own Richard Harris who drove up from D.C. www.richardharrislive.com . Bang Zoom was our band for the cocktail hour and we borrowed them from Pop’s Run...they came willingly...we also had some of our dear Nassau Wings people attend.....everyone was represented....if you would like me to scan any of the program let me know...Howard even had Dr. Vescio’s quote at the end of the journal...so hopeful and uplifting...it is on our website and has been since the beginning....

We saw wonderful people we had not seen in quite a while; besides some regulars from our NY group, and hopefully I didn’t miss anyone...it was joyous to see everyone; and of course Drs. Seldin and Skinner from Boston as well as John Carpenter. Dr. Landau was wonderful, and Dr. Rosenzweig a two year veteran of BU is now at Sloan and it was great to see him again with his beautiful bride...

The NYC meeting along with our guest, Dr. Angela Dispenzieri of the Mayo Clinic is on February 26 and it should be a wonderful one as usual. Details on www.amyloidosissupport.com

Hope to see you all at a meeting soon.....
Love to all,
Muriel

We invite our pharmaceutical liaisons to our support group meetings to help in our goal of educating and empowering our patients. The donations and/or grant received from these companies are unconditional, and the ASG does not endorse any one of their products over any other types of amyloidosis treatment. These treatments are mentioned at our meetings, on our website, and other electronic format for educational purposes. We encourage you to consult your amyloidosis professional when choosing a treatment plan.
