Mr. Donald H. Walker, Jr., (Pop-Pop), 64, of Mount Airy, Maryland, went home to be with our Lord on Friday, January 10, 2014, after a long and courageous battle with cardiac amyloidosis. He was the devoted husband and soul mate of over 38 years to Liz Phillips-Walker.

Don was born December 20, 1949 in Bethesda, Md., a son of Frances Walker Kephart of Baltimore, and the late Donald H. Walker, Sr. He was preceded in death by his brothers Barry and Glenn Walker.

Don was 1968 graduate of Damascus High School. He loved classic cars; and weekend racing at 75 & 80 Drag-A-Way in his younger years. Don was a career firefighter in Montgomery County, spending his career with the Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Fire Department. He retired in 1991 after 19 years of service. He was previously employed by Montgomery County Public Schools, Criswell Chevrolet, and Century Ford of Mount Airy.

One of Don's joys in life was watching his grandchildren play sports. Even if it meant sitting in the car and watching from afar, he was always there cheering from the sidelines.

Don loved nature, the outdoors, and spending time at their vacation home in Deep Creek. Whether a bird, chipmunk, deer or bear, he always found so much joy in watching wildlife.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Philip Walker; and Holly Walker-Stull and husband Jeff. He also leaves behind his most cherished angels Haley, Brayden, and Delaney Stull, Caylin and Mckenzie Walker and their mother Amy Walker; mother-in-law Audrey Phillips; sister-in-law

Terry Walker, and numerous nephews and nieces. He will also be remembered by many close friends who he considered his family. Don lived life to the fullest, with dignity and grace up to his final moment. He touched many lives and will be missed dearly.

We would like to thanki Dr's Oh and Rengen, as well as their staff for the excellent care they provided during Don's illness.
