Wesley Leighton, 59, passed away Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at home with family by his side after a courageous battle with amyloidosis. Francis was born in Farmington, Nov. 19, 1953, the son of Ervin "Tunny" and June (White) Leighton. He attended primary schools in Mount Vernon and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1973.Francis proudly worked as a herdsman on various dairy farms beginning at an early age. After his dairy farming career, Francis began driving trucks for road and construction crews. Francis was a kind, warm-hearted man who knew much about life and liked everyone. He enjoyed conversing and spending time with family and friends. Francis loved to cook and found joy in trying new recipes. He enjoyed being with family and having breakfasts with his daughter. He valued the bonds of family and showed this with his actions every day. He had plans of building a house, and over the last year, spent much time planning and dreaming of this ambition. Francis was predeceased by his great-nephew Michael Dunn. Francis is survived by his parents, Ervin "Tunny" and June Leighton, of Mount Vernon; his daughter, Suzanne Leighton, and her husband, Darren, of Wales; a daughter, Crystal; three siblings, Nancy Dunn and her husband, Lee, Judith Dunn and her husband, Dana, and Daniel Leighton, all of Mount Vernon; seven nephews and nieces, Tony Dunn and Amanda Mills, Jed Dunn, Eric Dunn and his wife, Abby, Curt Dunn and Tammy Olson, Matthew Dunn and his wife, Cathy, Maryann Coakley and her husband, Joseph, and Lora Pickham and her husband, Scott; 12 great-nephews and -nieces, Zoey, Danika, Emma, Owen, Iris, Cobey, Xander, Tyler, Kaitlynn, Liam, Zakary and Kyleigh; and several special aunts, uncles, and cousins. -
