MARTIN S. BERGER Age 75, of Pittsburgh, on Monday, September 17, 2012. Born in St. Louis to Betty Medoff and Herman Berger; treasured husband of Judith (Mehalovich); loving father to Cynthia Berger (Rod Hancock) of Anchorage, Christopher Berger (Peter Brotherton) of New York, and Alexandra Berger (Avi Weider) of New York; devoted grandfather to Zoe and Piper Hancock, and triplets Maxine, Kuba, and Zack Weider-Berger; beloved brother to David Berger (Alice) of Indianapolis, and predeceased in death by sister, Nancy Berger of Los Angeles. A 1958 graduate of Washington University, and after a stint in New York advertising as a 'Mad Man,' the entrepreneurial Mr. Berger founded marketing, printing, real estate, and publishing companies throughout his career, and he leaves behind many loved and long-time business associates as well. In later years, he was dubbed Pittsburgh's unofficial racquetball 'Commissioner' for his work in keeping racquetball a presence in Pittsburgh, and in encouraging young people to join in the sport. Services at RALPH SCHUGAR CHAPEL, INC., 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Friday at 11 a.m. Visitation one hour prior to services (10-11 a.m.). Private interment will follow at Homewood Cemetery. Cardiac Amyloidosis has no known cure.
