DENMAN, David F. David F. Denman, 66, of Harrisonburg, VA died Thursday, March 27, 2014 in Charlottesville, VA following a period of declining health but unwavering spirit. Born September 5, 1947 in Cornwall, ON, Canada to the late Walter Graham and Meta Price Denman, he earned his Bachelor's degree from Lakehead University. He arrived in Harrisonburg from Calgary, AB, Canada 31 years ago to pursue a career in International Sales with Kawneer Inc. David travelled extensively throughout the Middle East, Europe, UK and Africa with Kawneer. In 2004, in order to spend more time with his wife and daughter, he left international sales to become an agent with Cottonwood Commercial Realty and became actively involved in the local community. He was a big brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters, adopted grannies at Liberty House Nursing Home and Sunnyside Retirement Community and volunteered as a coach and organizer for Harrisonburg Soccer Association. He served as a Board Member and Chair of the Economic Development Committee for Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance, and as a Commissioner and Chair of the Harrisonburg Redevelopment and Housing Authority. He was also a Board Member for the Harrisonburg Rockingham Chamber of Commerce. David taught all of us that there is nothing more important than our relationships with family and friends. He unfailingly showed up as a father, husband and friend. He touched the lives of many and made profound and lasting connections wherever he went. Although he travelled the world, his favourite place on Earth was the cottage at Devonshire Park in Quebec, Canada. He enjoyed life to the fullest: sailing, golfing, skating, scuba diving, water and snow skiing and camping. David was always game for a new adventure and even after his diagnosis, took up skydiving with his daughter. He is survived by his wife, Heather Stevenson Denman; daughter, Molly Denman; a brother, Bill Denman and his wife, Gail of Nova Scotia, Canada; two sisters, Judy McCracken and her husband, Ed of Toronto, Canada and Kim Loken and her husband, Don of Ottawa, Canada; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. -
