Leo D. Fuerstenberg, 63 St. Stephen May 2, 1952 - Feb. 22, 2016 Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, February 25th at 10:30 AM at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in St. Stephen for Leo D. Fuerstenberg, age 63, of St. Stephen, who died on Monday at his home after a short battle with Amyloidosis. Rev. Robert Harren will officiate. Inurnment will take place at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Friends may call on Wednesday (TODAY) between 4:00-8:00 PM and on Thursday after 9:30 AM at St. Stephen's Parish Hall in St. Stephen. St. Stephen American Legion Post #221 will pray at 7:00 PM. Leo was born May 2nd, 1952 in St. Cloud to Erwin and Renilda (Kraemer) Fuerstenberg. Leo served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Laure Lanz on May 30th, 1987 at St. Augustine's Catholic Church. Leo was employed at the St. Cloud Veterans Administration Medical Center for over 33 years. Leo also provided foster care and respite care for children for over 23 years. He loved driving handicapped bus for Trobec Bus Service, the children brought joy to his retirement. He was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in St. Stephen and St. Stephen American Legion Post 221 where he presently held the office of Commander. Leo was also a life-member of East Side VFW Post 4847. Leo was an avid collector of John Deere tractors, antiques, and loved living in the country. He was known for being very patriotic, loved history and always had time for conversation. He leaves behind the many children they took care of especially Nikki and Kasey. Survivors include his wife Laure of St. Stephen, brother Roy Fuerstenberg (Janice) Eau Claire, WI., many nieces, nephews and in-laws. -
