HOLLOWAY, Noreen Mary (nee McManus) July 26, 1949 to July 15, 2015 It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Noreen, our beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt and friend. Born and raised in New Westminster, Noreen attended St. Peter's Elementary, St. Anne's Academy and Lester Pearson High School. Noreen was predeceased by her parents Wilfred "Dinny" and Irene McManus. The eldest of their four children, she became the family's matriarch, her calm demeanor and her common-sense approach to life making her the go-to person for family and friends needing advice on any number of issues. Noreen's life revolved around her family. Nothing brought Noreen more joy than spending time with the family, whether it was at family dinners and picnics, holiday celebrations, get-togethers at her sister's cabin or the annual Black Friday Christmas shopping excursion to Bellingham. She loved having the grandkids over for annual Easter egg hunts and Halloween pumpkin carving – or any impromptu visit. Along with raising her two daughters, she raised her youngest sister and contributed significantly to the upbringing of her niece McKenzie and nephew Patrick. Others, though not related by blood, were welcomed into the fold as if they were Noreen's own family. Noreen is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Neil; daughters Debbie (Tim) and Jaime; sisters Pat (Gord) and Theresa (Sean); brother Dennis; grandsons Quinn, Rowan, Nolan, Connor, Flynn, and many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Throughout a five-year battle with amyloidosis and kidney dialysis, Noreen's spirit and tenacity remained strong, her courage, kindness and gentle sense of humour evident right until the end. Noreen passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. The family wishes to offer special thanks to those who cared for Noreen during her illness, including Dr. Walter Rebeyka and all the folks at Royal Columbian Hospital's renal unit. Thanks also to the staff of Royal Columbian Hospital's High Acuity Unit and Intensive Care Unit, who cared for Noreen in her final days -
