Aug. 28, 1933 - Jul. 23, 2013 Zannie Roy Hood, 79, of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly of Detroit, MI, died on July 23, 2013. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sat., August 24, 2013 at Unity Church of Peace in North Port, FL. Funeral arrangements by: Englewood Community Funeral Home, Inc. with private crematory. He made his transition after a long and valiant battle with amyloidosis. Zannie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a telephone installer/repairman from 1953 to 1955. He and his wife Marion moved to Port Charlotte 24 years ago from Detroit, MI. Mr. Hood enjoyed golfing and exercising at the Englewood YMCA. He was a member of the Unity Church of Peace. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years: Marion, his children: Cathleen of McDonough, GA; Gary and Victor of Detroit, MI; grandson: Braedon of Detroit, MI; two sisters: Harriet (Henry) Thompson of Detroit, MI; Vesterine (Jerome) VanHook of Inkster, MI; his aunt: Elease Lynch of LaGrange, GA; his sister in law: Marie Rosenborough of Detroit, MI; four nephews: Timothy, Brian, Jerome and Kevin, two nieces: Gladys and Charlene and many grand nieces, nephews and cousins. -
